1998 KITS Summer Institute

The fifth annual KITS Summer Institute, Effective Strategies for Inclusive Early Childhood Programs: Gathering Information and Instructional Planning , is scheduled for June 23-26, 1998, at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. The summer institute is sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education and Kansas Inservice Training System. Nationally recognized speakers provide day long workshops on various topics related to early childhood and early childhood special education. The goals of the summer institute include providing the opportunity for professional development and two college credit hours.

The emphasis of this year's summer institute will be linking program planning and progress to impact program change. Several speakers, with expertise in these areas, have been identified and contacted. April's newsletter will give a complete description of the content of the summer institute or you can obtain this information by calling Robin Bayless at (800)-362-0390 ext. 1618. This will be a summer institute you don't want to miss!

Enrollment will be limited to 50 participants. Participants must be able to attend all four days. Lodging, meals and materials will be provided by KITS. Tuition will be the responsibility of the participants. A flat subsidy of $50 will be offered to cover travel. See the application on page 9 of this newsletter. Applications are due by April 30, 1998, but will be accepted until all positions are filled.
