Transitioning into DAP Conference

The third annual statewide transition conference will be held on April 14 and 15, 1997 at the Airport Hilton in Wichita, Kansas. The conference, entitled Transitioning into Developmentally Appropriate Practice: Preschool to Primary , has been implemented to promote continuity between early childhood and elementary programs.

This conference is supported by a collaborative effort of many sources including

  • Bridging Early Services Transition Project
  • Kansas Division for Early Childhood
  • Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Kansas State Department of Education
  • Region VII Resource Access Project/Head Start
  • Haysville USD 261 Title VI-B Grant
  • Wichita USD 259
  • Kansas Inservice Training System.

The keynote address will be presented by Barbara Bowman of Erikson Institute at Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Bowman is an expert in the area of Developmentally Appropriate Practices and brings with her a wealth of experience and ideas. The conference this year will examine strategies that can be used to teach to the diverse needs of children.

  • Breakout sessions will be presented by model teachers and programs from throughout the state.
