The Annual Head Start and Early Childhood Special Education Joint Meeting will be held Tuesday, December 9, at the Ramada Inn in Manhattan, Kansas. Each year, administrators and staff across Kansas come together to share information, visit programs, network, and meet with representatives from various state agencies, regarding collaboration in Kansas.

This year, participants will be given the opportunity to visit the nationally recognized Manhattan / Ogden / Riley Head Start program featured in the Paul H. Brookes video tape Shining Bright: Head Start Inclusion. After the site visit, information will be shared about the Head Start Collaboration Project and the newly written Memorandum of Understanding (draft) between Head Start and various state agencies.

Break out sessions will be offered in the afternoon to allow participants time to talk directly with Head Start and School District staff who work in collaborative programs in various locations across the state. Sessions will highlight programs which are in the beginning, intermediate, and advanced stages of the collaborative process.

Take this opportunity to travel to Manhattan with your collaborative partner(s). We hope to see you there!
