The National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDE) has two new videos available.

One is entitled Welfare and SSI: An Update. The information is current and will provide you with specifics about the effects of the new welfare reform package on children and youth with disabilities.

The second video is Lovaas, TEACCH, and the Public System: The Court as Referee. Many special education directors are receiving requests from parents to provide these specific methodologies in serving their young children with autism. As a result, there is a growing body of State Education Agency and court decisions around the responsibilities of the school district and the rights of the parents and children. This tape gives an overview of the issues and a brief look at the case law.
